Studies in the Scriptures

so for s&gs i started reading russells early works beginning today.

i started with the 1886 "plan of the ages" book.

already going through paragraph 1 i am seeing some huge signposts for what would happen later in the religion.. in his explanation of a beginning of an examination into the scriptures he says that there are only 2 ways open to us.

I highly recommend to any JW to read the works of Russell so as to get an eye opening introduction to the religion they are often born into and baptized into with little or no understanding of the history of its doctrines.

Reading volumes 2 and 6 of Studies in the Scriptures was VERY enlightening for me, ....yes it PROVED that this is sadly just yet another end times cult. In those works Russell "proved" beyond doubt both using prophecy and mathematics many things for 1874, 1878, and 1914..... that with that wonderful thing called HINDSIGHT are proven to be totally wrong.

Not a good basis for faith is it

of course these ones trying to disuade you with their disparaging infelicitous remarks, would know all about paul's words about putting on the new personality and would be quick to point out your lack of that new personality, as well your lack of the fruitage of the holy spirit which they would also know about.

in light of the wts's recent attempts to conceal it's talks from broader inspection and documentation, mp3s to the public are now mostly the works of the 'conscious class' and those exjws who force themselves to endure hours upon hours of control-laced presentations.

Australian brothers VERY negative comments regarding new "generations" ... some leaving Bethel..will this blow up in the Watchtowers face?

a brother i spoke with from bethel to me seemed discouraged and lacking zeal latley...he spoke of leaving which shocked me since he was there for decades...he left to get a full time job!!!

it was his whole reason for living since i've known him!

others have said the new doctrine of "blended generations" of anionted seeing armagedon is "confusing" or "i just don't get it"...one brother my only close friend is furious and said i qoute..."they seem to be blowing smoke up our ass!

You're right, I dont.

Anyone can take something written 2500 yrs ago and make it fit whatever the angle is they are trying to make.

It's time specific material and once fulfilled at that specific time it then becomes redundant prophetically. It then falls into the historical warning category but has no future outcome attached to it.

But that has NEVER stopped anyone from trying, esp so the WTBS!!.

Deprogramming... yourself.

so, the title pretty much explains it.. .

i've come to a pretty definite conclusion for myself as to where i stand, and how i feel about the existence of a deity- let alone the idea that wts has divine backing.. .

my issue is that, being born in, i have lots of subconsciously ingrained phobias and behaviors burned in so deep, i constantly catch myself thinking and reatcting to things the "witness" way- things that don't apply to my life or the way i (want to) live my life anymore.. for example, because of the way i've been raised and indoctrinated, i've grown a serious aversion- you could say almost a literal fear- of worldy people; girls in particular.

I think its the subconscious realisation that SEX is a very REAL possibility with "worldly" girls.

So your programmed aversion is to sexual temptation with the real prospect of fornicating. Masturbation and porn dont fall into this category so dont trigger the aversion as strongly because the outcome is not the major "sin" of fornication.

So you need to erase the mental jump to sex that is triggered in your mind and thus the aversion trigger that is programmed and just see them as people.

Just a thought.

No you are so wrong, the 4 rings of the AutoUnion overlap and evidently PROVE beyond doubt that the generations of German automobile manufacturers did in fact overlap but constitute but ONE generation of said automobile manufacturers. It is very specific to the German generation and not to be confused with the general generation of the time.

Open your eyes and SEE!!!

P.S If you drive an Audi (formerly AutoUnion), then you have the mark of the beast...oh dear or am I confuzzling that with some other thing?

Did you really pay attention at conventions or assemblies?

a co-worker of mine whose family (2 daughters, wife) are jw's related a funny story yesterday.

his wife and daughters missed the friday portion of the convention last week in order to attend a wedding of a worldly relative.

at dinner she mentioned to him that she would go to the convention this friday to make up for the one she missed.. he then asked why and she said so she could get the information she missed.

I was being baptised during that bomb scare in Southampton!! Was in 1985 if I have my sums right and the baptism was resumed about 3 hours late.

Must have been a SIGN if only I'd paid attention to it...lol
